When my first child was born, I became educated on childcare centers. I had to learn what questions to ask when searching for childcare and observe the staff to get a feel for the way my child would be cared for. Many new parents are uneducated in the facts of daycare and what appears to be wonderful on the outside may truly be different on the inside. The decision I made was to quit my secretary job in Austin and become a childcare provider. In this way, I was able to be with my child, not worrying if she was being well cared for and able to see all the milestones that she accomplished along the way. This has been the best decision I have ever made.
I have been in childcare for 11 years and I feel that quality is essential in childcare. By quality, I mean a safe place where the environment is developed for the children, the staff trained in child development and are responsive teachers that show respect for each child, and a program that invites diversity through respecting individualism in each child, their cultural and religious differences and spontaneity in learning.
Children have always been an important part of my life. I have been surrounded by and involved with children as long as I can remember. After being a “stay home mom” with my first child, having to work after my second child was born was a scary thought. My love for children prompted the decision to care for children in my home. This was such a rewarding experience, that after moving to Texas, I inquired about working in a childcare center. I have learned much from the 10 years in a licensed daycare and it made me realize how big the need is for quality in daycares. With my previous business and childcare expertise combined, I feel that I am ready to take on the challenge of owning and operating a quality childcare center.
We feel that we can provide and manage a quality, safe environment where children will flourish by opening Wiggles-n-Giggles Child Development Center, a nourishing environment for ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. The directors’ visions are child oriented and future growth is shared with parents and the community to continue serving the children of Bastrop County. Not only will the children and staff benefit from Wiggles-n-Giggles Child Development Center but also the parents, Bastrop community, surrounding areas and educators of young children. Wiggles-n-Giggles will be a classroom for all individuals that are interested in learning about all aspects of child development.
The children are our future and Wiggles-n-Giggles Child Development Center want to make a difference in each child so that the future, for all of us, will be promising.
